In the framework of the European H2020 project I-CHANGE, CIMA Research Foundation has started a collaboration with U.I.F. Unione Italiana Fotoamatori.
Photography becomes here the means of communication to involve citizenship and promote active participation on the issues of climate change, sustainable development and environmental protection. In this context, the camera becomes a tool and the photo amateur becomes a citizen scientist.
Through national photo competitions and activities on the ground, images have been collected (and continue to be collected) on the impacts of climate change, how we can adapt to it and possible mitigation activities, as well as photographs that can raise public awareness on these issues. All the images collected in this process are then exhibited in the context of exhibitions, meetings and events.
The reality represented by the photographic images thus becomes an immediate and strong tool to “speak without words” about the climate crisis we are facing; and it does so thanks to the synergy between photographic art, the involvement of citizens and the support of CIMA Research Foundation’s scientific expertise.
